Seven Year Old Murderer
I just read this story on MSNBC that disturbed me beyond any form of measurement. It’s about a seven-year-old boy in Sydney Australia who broke into a zoo and MURDERED THIRTEEN ANIMALS. If I found it in good taste to fill up the page with expletives, I would have done so already. Instead, I’ll talk a little bit about what I think should happen.
If you look at the video in the link above, you’ll notice that the little…twerp (practicing my restraint)… is throwing animals to the crocodile to eat, which he killed beforehand with large rocks.
I think I speak for everyone ever when I say that if I were a zookeeper and stumbled upon this massacre, my first decisive action would be to feed that kid to the crocodile, and pretend it was all part of an elaborate accident brought on by the cretin’s curiosity.
As it is, the value of the lizards and turtles he killed is estimated at about $5,500 dollars, and the court system is saying that the seven-year-old murderer isn’t liable. At the very least, I am glad his parents are being sued, because I guarantee the kid doesn’t have that kind of money anyway. On top of that, where were the stupid kid’s parents? It’s their fault too for letting the jerk run off and break into a secure holding cell for animals (protected by remote sensors, nonetheless) and proceed to take the lives of several of the beloved animals the zookeepers there had been taking care of, some for over two decades.
All I can say after that is if that kid were mine, he would be suffering permanent physical and mental damage right now from the beating I would have given to him. I’d feel like an inferior parent for letting the kid out of my sight in the first place, but I’d direct that rage at the kid, who would not soon forget just how big of a mistake he made. In these sad modern times, I can’t believe there are no situations where you can beat the snot out of a child and not worry about child protection getting involved. I think parenting should be left to parents, and to my ears, that works both ways. The parents should be responsible for WATCHING their children, just as they should be solely responsible for smacking their kid around deservedly when he gets out of line.
Let this be the perfect example.
First off I think child protective services should keep their jobs to what it is. Protecting children. This means that if a child is abused you protect that kid. If the child is out of line to the point that child is, protect the child by letting the parents whip his ass to the point he never does anything like that again. After all if he gets away with this how much more dangerous will he be when he is older? Protect him now by wearing his demented butt out now.
While I completely agree with you when you wonder where the heck the parents were, I am even more disturbed by the fact that this little boy would do this! Studies have shown that children who kill animals have a high likely-hood to grow up to kill people. This child is clearly disturbed and needs some serious help and obviously the parents do too for allowing their child to get this far gone with his emotionally disturbed problems!
Wow!
I saw this too and it made me so sad. I also wonder ‘where are the parents?’ We are all sincerely shocked; but then what kind of toys, games, and programming do we give boys that age? Toy cars to crash, toy guns that fire mini-projectiles, etc.
Not to say all boys are like that; I think he’s never been shown or taught respect and empathy. Kids shouldn’t be left alone until the vital life skills are learned. He could have gotten into more trouble or danger.
